Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg and König Galerie invite you to a special viewing of the exhibition by Karl Horst Hödicke before its closure on 20 March.

 

Dr Martin Engler, Head of the Contemporary Art Collection at the Städel Museum, Frankfurt am Main, will give a tour of the exhibition, followed by a talk with the Berlin-based French artist Johanna Dumet. The guided tour will be in German, the talk in English.

 

We also celebrate the comprehensive publication of works by Hödicke which was published in 2021 by Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg and König Galerie.

Dr Martin Engler (born 1968 in Freiburg/Brsg.) studied art history, German and law in Freiburg and Florence. Since 2002 he has been head of the Collection of Contemporary Art After 1945 at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt. From 2002 to 2008 he was responsible for exhibitions as curator at the Kunstverein Hannover. Extensive teaching at academies and universities in the field of contemporary art was added from 1998 onwards. Between 1997 and 2002, Dr. Martin Engler published as a freelance art critic in renowned newspapers and magazines (including Die Zeit and FAZ). He has dedicated his academic publications to Donald Judd, Piero Manzoni, topics of modern and avant-garde research and contemporary art, among others.
